Pursue the thing that moves you. Don’t limit its ambition, or cover its brilliance. Let your dreams flame a constant fire within you, and let your visions be the edge — the uncommon and unmistakable quality — that others notice; that you cannot shake.
And when your long-term hopes fade as embers, push through. Because the ashes from your brightest fires will remain to create something new.
Artwork that I made in my first semester of law school, fall 2014. I remember almost exactly what I was feeling when I painted this. It was an “exam relief” activity advertised at Temple, and most of my thoughts were about just that – exams – one of the most daunting experiences for a first year law student. Still, in about an hour I somehow managed to feel creative enough to paint and express the passage of time through art, which is why I named this, “Light & the Journey.”
